Some stars are born to rule the entertainment world forever and Sridevi is no exception. She was honored with posthumous ‘best actress’ award for Hindi film ‘Mom’ in the National Film Awards announced by Shekhar Kapur, who is the head of the Jury for feature films. No doubt, this is indeed a special occasion for all fans of Sridevi and of course her family. It is indeed a fitting end to her career which ended abruptly when she passed away a few weeks back in a Dubai hotel.

In ‘Mom’, Sridevi was cast as a mother bent on avenging the rape of her father. Mom was the third film after her comeback and she played her part exquisitely along with her role in English Vinglish.
Actor Pankaj Tripathi, who was specially mentioned for his role in award-winning Newton, remarked, “I am absolutely delighted. I had no idea I was even in the running.
It feels amazing to know that the whole country thought my role in Newton was one of my best and to win the special mention award at the highest film award in India is just exhilarating.My director and my co-actors made it easy for me to act in this film.”
There were not too many surprises either. The regional films have been a revelation in the last few years and this year too there was no expectation.
