The murder of a Congress Party worker has created a rift between the ruling party and opposition in the state of Kerala. A 30-year-old youth Congress party worker was hacked to death in Kannur district late night on Monday. The Congress party alleged that the ruling party CPM is behind the attack.
They gave a call for a ‘full day hartal’ in the district today. According to the media, a bomb was thrown on the vehicle in which the victim was traveling. He was then hacked to death by the attackers. The victim, Suhaib, was an office bearer in the office of Youth Congress.
Similar political killings have been taking place in Kannur for over a year. Three members have hacked a member of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad in the month of January in a similar fashion. The ITI student was going home when the attackers came in a car and apprehended him.
He tried to run away but was chased and hacked with machetes. Two separate incidents of attack on RSS workers were reported in the district last week. CPM workers were expected to be behind the attack. Congress and BJP have been accusing the involvement of ruling party in the political killings.
