US President Donald Trump has been direct in his approach in this year and that has reverberated in his tweets and speeches. Although he has slammed the Pakistani government for double standard with regard to terrorism, he has categorically mentioned India to be a country with whom he is comfortable working with.
While speaking to reporters at a joint White House New Conference with Norway PM Erna Solberg, Donald Trump remarked, “Working with countries, whether it’s Russia or China or India, or any of the countries that surround this world and encompass this world, is a very good thing.
That’s not a bad thing.” By mentioning India in the same sentence with Russia and China, definitely, he has stressed on improving relation with India, instead of Pakistan. Definitely, this indicates a new direction to Indo-US relationship which is only going to get stronger in the days to come.
No doubt, the whole world order has changed ever since 9/11 attacks. Under Donald Trump, US has been very cautious in its approach with China and Russia. USA has understood the significance of China in dealing with North Korea and the megalomaniac autocrat Kim Jong Un.
As far as India is concerned, Donald Trump has been extremely vocal on H-1B and other issues involving immigration and employment. Otherwise, India has every reason to believe that Donald Trump era in USA will witness stronger relations with India which will ultimately benefit both the countries in due course of time.
