Shiv Sena To Go ‘Solo’ In Upcoming Lok Sabha And Assembly Elections

Even since BJP has been strengthening its base in Maharashtra, there has been uneasiness on part of Shiv Sena. Previously, the saffron outfit was dependent on Bala Shaheb Thackeray’s Shiv Sena, but things have changed drastically ever since the death of the Shiv Sena supremo.

Uddhav Thackeray has been a mere shadow of his father where Raj Thackeray has been extremely erratic with MNS. In between, BJP has expanded its base slowly and now they are indeed in a position to count Maharashtra as one of their forts.

Although Shiv Sena is in an alliance with BJP, yet the relation isn’t that cordial enough. The Devendra Fadnavis government is making sure that BJP is getting ready for the mega Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra.

In such a scenario, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has moved a resolution at the party’s national executive meeting in Mumbai. The resolution was passed unanimously and Shiv Sena has pledged to win at least 25 out of 48 seats in Lok Sabha whereas 150 out of 288 seats in the state assembly.

The change in stance, rather the stern action of Shiv Sena is indeed going to have an impact on the Maharashtra politics. Shiv Sena has been BJP’s oldest ally and in no way, Narendra Modi will look for losing an old ally. Thus one can expect the whole chain of events to be a mental tussle between the parties sharing a similar vote bank in the Maratha-land.
