In an unfortunate incident, at least 30 children died in Gorakhpur Hospital in the last two days. The hospital lies within the parliamentary constituency of Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath. The government authorities have denied the number and said that only seven had died.
A probe has been ordered as there has been an allegation that due to lack of liquid oxygen, so many deaths have taken place in the neo-natal ward within a span of two days. The state government is on the receiving end for such gross neglect and emergency arrangements are being made to tackle the emergency scenario.
Gorakhpur DM Rajeev Rautela confirmed the there was a shortage of liquid of oxygen and due to a non-payment of Rs 70 lakh, the vendor supplying oxygen has stopped supply in the hospital. Already a payment of Rs 35 lakh has been made and the vendor has been asked to continue the supply without any delay.
Within the next 24 years, details of the magisterial probe will be submitted to the Uttar Pradesh government. State Health Minister Siddharth Nath Singh has said that a lot of people have been admitted with high fever and the number of deaths can be attributed to it also.
He remarked, “Absolutely, we will do into the depth of these deaths. We are going to check each and everything and then come with a final answer. Those who are found guilty and if we find any error on their part, they will be made accountable.” No doubt, the situation is alarming and the Yogi Adityanath government needs to step to tackle the medical emergency.
