Berlin The group behind “Built” and “Weld” is trying to gain a foothold in the American media business. That’s why Axel Springer is now sending a board member to the United States. There is one woman in addition to the group.
Axel Springer Media Group expands its board of directors from four to five members. Two women are new to the committee: Ulrik Handel, 50, manager of the national media business, will be in charge of the “Built” and “Weld” brands from May 1. Until July 1, the media group announced in Berlin on Saturday evening that Nidel Salah-Eltin, 36, would be on the board of directors of the new “Talent and Culture” division. Salah-Eltin is currently at the forefront of Springer, and is in charge of the In-House Academy, which coordinates the training of journalists and technicians, and previously served as an assistant faculty member at dpa from 2019 to 2021.
According to Springer, Stephanie Caspar, 48, a former board member in charge of the Internet advertising business, will leave the company on July 31 “by mutual agreement”. The media magazine “Medianinsider” first published the news. Following the potential IPO of online job portal Stepstone, the advertising business sector is set to be redesigned.
The new members will include CEO Mathias Döpfner (59), Julian Deutz (54) and Jan Bayer (51) in charge of finance and human resources. The latter will be appointed vice president on July 1 and will run American business. For this purpose, Bayer must be active in the United States for at least one year from summer. So far he has been responsible for all media brands – nationally and internationally.
It has recently been revealed that Springer is focusing on the US with the restructuring of the board, following the acquisition of US media brands, including the flagship brand “Politico”. Springer acquired the deal in October 2021, the largest company in company history.
At this point, a report was published in the “New York Times” about the abuse of power by then-Built editor-in-chief Julian Risselt. These revelations resonated in Germany. Finally, Springer relieved Rizal of his duties.
The new charges were made public in February, This time in the British Financial Times. Accordingly, the top management of Axel Sprinkler should have been aware of the serious allegations against Result before the investigation.
Springer is headquartered in Berlin and has approximately 16,000 employees worldwide.
