To the Wildcats, the women lost the first two sets 25:17 and 25:22. A few changes turned the UNIONvolleys around and they won the third and fourth sets with 25:22 and 25:23. However, they completely failed to start the fifth and decisive set, which is why it clearly went to Carinthians 15:7. The Weinviertel women had to admit defeat with a score of 2:3, but they gained one point in the table.
“It was the best game of the year, but we still have a lot of potential to improve,” UNIONvolleys coach Jan Timko said after the match.
- Austrian Men’s Volleyball League 2
UNIONvolleys had a completely unsuccessful start against Aich/Dob and had to lose the first set with 19:25. After that, they improved and won the second and third sets with times of 25:20 and 25:17. However, as the fourth set went to Carinthians again with 25:19, the decision had to be made in the fifth set. “Anything can happen, but we got off to a bad start again,” explained outside forward Luca Wojnar.
Although Weinviertel’s team managed to catch up again, in the end the deciding set went to Aich/Dob 15:12 and UNIONvolleys had to admit defeat 2:3.
