Austrian Volleyball Cup – VCA Amstetten Lower Austria: Loss of sensation

VCA Amstetten Lower Austria went to the cup final against Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel as an outside player and after a big fight they lost 1:3 to the top candidate. After a very strong performance during the first two sets, they brought Waldviertel, as in the previous year Esch/Dop, to the brink of defeat.

“Pity. We played well in the first two sets and I think we were the better team. We can be satisfied with that performance and I have to pay a big compliment to my team,” VCA Sports Director Michael Henchke said after the match.

Mostviertler started strong in the first round, dominating the Austrian winners of the regular round and middle round and making it 1-0 with a time of 25:20. Also in the second group, the guests were the strongest team, they even had many set-pieces, but they could not use them. Fighting closely, Am Stettner lost 25:27. From that moment on, Waldviertel took command.

“We should have won that, and then the pressure on Waldviertel would be enormous. However, in the end, they are the well-deserved winners of the cup.” Only at the end of the third round could Amstettener unable to keep up with the hosts and gave up the third set 20:25. Thus, Waldvierteler celebrated his first title in the club’s history in this lower Austrian final.
