Olympia: First DFB opponent fixed!
It was clear even before the draw for the Olympic Games: German footballers would meet the USA in the group stage.
For German footballers, there will be a valuable clash with the USA in the group stage of the Olympic Games in Paris. Interim national coach Horst Hrubesch's side are tied for fifth with Japan and Olympic champions Canada in the March 20 draw in Paris. No two nations from the same confederation can be represented in any group, so the United States is the only opponent in Pot One, along with hosts France and world champions Spain.
Brazil, Australia and Colombia are in third place. Apart from New Zealand, two African teams will be drawn into groups from pot four and must qualify in early April. Divided into different pots based on world ranking.
By winning the third-place match in the Nations League in the Netherlands (2-0), the Germans earned the last European ticket to the fight for medals in Paris (July 26 to August 11).
