Eriksen collapsed shortly before halftime with a throw-in without any interference from the opponent and left him on the grass. The Danish paramedics and emergency doctors responded immediately and saved the midfield star’s life.
The Danish players protected Eriksen, who was carried off the field on a stretcher. There were tears in the eyes of many of the 29-year-old’s teammates. Then the match in Copenhagen was halted for nearly 100 minutes.
