Ladybug Clone: Ballet’s New Cat Aura

Ladybug Clone: Ballet’s New Cat Aura

Ladybug shapes aren’t actually related to ballerina traits. And the “ballet cat” just introduced by Chinese group Great Wall’s Aura company is still round and bulky in the way of a Beetle, instead of being delicate and slim. The dancing cat looks different.

However, one would expect good prospects with the VW Beetle electric clone. Motto: If Volkswagen didn’t dare build an electric Beetle, we would. According to media reports, Ballet Cat is also being considered in Europe.

The ballet car – beautifully decorated with flowers in Shanghai – aims to please women in particular. According to the manufacturer, the vehicle with a height of 4.40 meters was specially designed to meet the needs of female drivers. “The ballet cat follows the design concept of ‘elegant revival aesthetics’, which expresses women’s gentle and elegant temperament through rounded and stretchy curves, fuses classicism with modernity, and conveys feminine aesthetic concepts through retro fashion,” according to the fact sheet.

Thus the 20 x 10 cm makeup mirror has 24 LED light beads hidden in the sun visor. The center console – in the shape of a ‘Swan Lake’ – has a piano key as a functional lever and a vanity tray. The built-in camera can be used to check on the screen whether the makeup is in place.

But not only make-up was thought of, but also children: in the so-called “children’s pose” children’s songs are played. The air conditioning kicks in automatically when it gets too hot behind, and thanks to the camera, you can see what’s going on in the back seat via the center console screen without turning your head. On the other hand, if you are driving in “gods driving mode”, the accelerator and steering react more sensitively.

It is gratifying that when designing the Ballet Cat, the female anatomy was taken into account: the seat and rounded headrest are comfortable for the driver. In addition, Aura has developed an exclusively female steering wheel. It measures just 370mm in diameter, which makes it feel better in the hands of female riders.

To make parking easier, Ballet Cat’s voice-activated parking function automatically recognizes suitable parking spots, plans parking maneuvers and avoids collisions. In complex driving environments, the 360 panoramic display provides a comprehensive view.

Visually, the China Beetle may not be elegant, but it is cute. The spherical shape with the front hood pulled far down, the two-tone paint and the classic rims immediately make you think of a VW Beetle. Only the LED headlights are a bit square.

Of course, they offer not only looks and tools, but also technology: Ora Ballet Cat’s permanent magnet synchronous motor has a peak output of 126 kW and a maximum torque of 250 Nm, enabling a top speed of 155 km/h. With the size of the battery you can choose 49.9 or 60.5 kWh and thus create a range of 400 to 500 kilometers per battery charge.

The cost of a ballet car in China is about $27,000. If the Strom-Beetle makes it to Europe, you’ll probably have to pay more for it.
