Harry continued, “I’ve never had a girlfriend or been in a relationship with anyone without the tabloids stepping in and busting them or trying to bust them by all legal means.” The newspapers also portrayed him as stupid.
The hearing, which is scheduled for three days, deals with lawsuits brought by Prince Harry and actor Hugh Grant against the newspaper’s publisher, News Group Newspapers (NGN), which includes the Sun and the News of the World weekly, which has since been discontinued. The two plaintiffs accuse the publisher of tapping their phones and thus obtaining private information. The judge now has to decide whether there will be a major trial, which is scheduled for January next year.

Attorneys for the publisher demanded that the lawsuit be dismissed due to the statute of limitations. However, according to Harry’s written testimony, there was collusion between the royal family and the publisher’s bosses that prevented him from suing at an earlier date. On the other hand, his brother, Prince William, 40, agreed with the comparison, he said. The palace declined to comment on the matter.
