Lucas Konen – The Road Doesn’t Lead to America

There have been rumors for years that the Konen brothers, and Lucas Konen in particular, were looking for a way to America. At the end of the 2022 season, the paddock was already whispering that both Lucas and his twin brother Sache would be heading to America as early as 2023.

But as we know, both brothers competed in the MX2 Motocross World Championship. Although on different teams and in different results, not in America. Today, with the announcement of Lucas’ contract extension with the Neston Husqvarna factory racing team, came a clear signal of support for the Motocross World Championship.

This multi-year deal confirms his commitment to Pierer Mobility Group and his ambition to become Belgium’s next world champion. The 17-year-old has stepped up to the MX2 FIM Motocross World Championship at the start of 2023 and is not only impressing the experts with his blistering pace.

Lucas won five races and scored OF in MXGP Sumbawa (Indonesia) his first Grand Prix win. Fifth place in the championship standings was a surprising finish for a rookie, confirming the fact that he will be a title contender for years to come.

With today’s news, the U.S. title is no longer on the agenda for the Konen brothers for the next few years (Sacha extended his contract with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing). Nevertheless, we can assume that the two brothers will do whatever it takes to achieve their dream AmericaAction must be taken at some point.
