Q1 Mugello: Franco Morbidelli fastest with MotoGP record

Franco Morbidelli dominates first qualifying at Mugello with a new record margin. Trackhouse Aprilia man Raúl Fernández follows him in Q2. Pol Espargaro crashes, and Jack Miller suffers a disappointing qualifying.

A new record for Franco Morbidelli! With a record lap achieved, the Italian Ducati rider reached Q2 at Mugello.

With his first round, Morbidelli remained at the top for a long time (1:45.465 minutes). Raul Fernandez leads with a time of 1:44.868, setting a new best time of the weekend. But the weekend record isn't enough – because Morbidelli beats it with a new record of 1:44.726! Fernandes remains second fastest and also reaches second qualifying.

Shortly before the end of the session, yellow in the third sector! Pol Espargaro falls and slides along the track while his bike continues to travel on its own. Fortunately nothing worse happens. Jack Miller will start 17th. It's his worst qualifier in a long time.

Both Quartararo and Di Giannantonio narrowly missed the jump straight into the second quarter. Even on the second attempt, moving to the second session was not enough. “Diggia” records the fourth-fastest time in Q1, and Quartararo is the fifth-fastest. Brad Bender narrowly missed the second quarter.
