Resignation from resignation! ÖSV runner returns to the World Cup

Back from retirement!

Christopher Neumayer is returning to the Alpine Skiing World Cup – the 32-year-old from Salzburg announced it on Wednesday via his Instagram channel.

The speed specialist announced the end of his career only last season after achieving his best career result on the Kitzbühel slope (12th place).

“Resign to resign or from resignation to return!” is how the veteran begins his announcement.

Neumayer eager to return: 'I'm really looking forward to it'

“After an intense period of reflection, I decided: I am not ready to give up skiing yet. “Why?”, “Why?”, “How could this happen?” were the most common reactions to my decision: “There were too many words and explanations,” Neumayer offers special insights into the time when the decision was made.

However, Neumayer is certain of his intentions, some eight months after his supposed resignation: “I have been fully focused on my training since the summer and I know I am ready. When the hardest training is fun, you know the decision is made and so I am really looking forward to competing on the slopes again next season. There is still a lot I want to show in the races and I am starting a new racing season at full speed!”

The returnee also expresses his thanks to ÖSV and the supplier Atomic: “Many thanks to everyone who accompanied me on this journey – your support means a lot to me! And above all to ÖSV for the constructive and positive discussions and to the company Atomic, who continue to support me with their materials (I can wear Kitzbühel skis again this year).”
