Russia accuses NATO of confrontation. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today in Moscow that the new deterrence strategy of the Western military alliance is another proof of this.
“Under these circumstances, there is no need for dialogue.” NATO’s decision shows that the Russian decision to cut ties with the military alliance was the right one.
“This alliance was not created for peace, but was conceived, designed and created for confrontation,” Pesco said. Yesterday, NATO defense ministers approved a new master plan to deter Russia.
A few days ago, Russia severed its official ties with NATO after eight members were expelled from its representation in the alliance on charges of espionage.
The new NATO strategy aims to prepare for simultaneous attacks by Russia in the Baltic states and the Black Sea region. The government in Moscow rejects all accusations that it is acting aggressively and accuses NATO of destabilizing Europe through its strategic preparations. Relations between Russia and the United States and the European Union have further deteriorated over the past few months.
