In light of renewed Russian attacks on Bakhmut, the position of the Ukrainian Armed Forces there became increasingly precarious. According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrainian forces are in a difficult situation in the battle for the city in Donbass.

Zelensky emphasized: “For me, the most important thing is that we do not lose our soldiers, and of course the generals on the ground will make the right decisions if the situation gets worse and there is a danger that we will lose our people because we will be surrounded.”
Bakhmut “Fighting Point”
The Ukrainian military said that Bakhmut, along with the towns of Avdiivka and Marginka in the southwest, is currently the “center of hostilities”. The government in Kiev has so far confirmed that it intends to stay with Bakhmut. “Bakhmut has an important task to inflict as many casualties on Russia as possible and, first of all, to prepare a counterattack,” which is expected at the end of April, military analyst Pavel Narochny told “Ukrainian Radio NV”.
