TSV Hartberg Changes Coach: Former coach Kurt Russ has been laid off with immediate effect. The 57-year-old has held this position since the summer with nine wins, seven draws and 11 defeats in 27 competitive matches. TSV is currently in tenth place. The progression above the bottom of the table is only five points due to the splitting of points.
Effective immediately, Klaus Schmidt will take over as head coach in East Styria. The 54-year-old from Styria has signed a contract until the summer of 2023 and will be in charge of coaching the squad tomorrow.
General Manager and Sporting Director Eric Korher on the coach change: “The decision to let go of the coach is always painful. Kurt Ross took charge of the team in the summer through a difficult phase. Reached the semi-finals in the Cup and won against him. The big teams had great successes in the fall. Unfortunately, things did not work out. In the right direction in the past few weeks and months. There hasn’t been any sign of an upward trend, which is why we decided to change coaches.”
Korherr continues: “We would like to thank Kurt for his commitment, who always gave everything he had until the last day, and we wish him all the best for the future. Klaus Schmidt fits TSV Hartberg like a glove. A man of experience, he is eager to participate. We are convinced this will give us momentum What we need to achieve our goal of staying in the league as quickly as possible.”
