Ukraine announced that it had destroyed a warship belonging to the Russian Black Sea Fleet. The Ukrainian Air Force said on the Telegram application today that its pilots destroyed the landing ship Novocherkassk. The Air Force said the ship was suspected of carrying Iranian drones that Russia is using against Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces did not provide any information about the location of the attack on Novocherkassk. But the commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, Mykola Oleshchuk, published a video clip showing an explosion at the Russian naval base in Feodosia on the Crimean peninsula, which Russia annexed.
Russian governor confirms “enemy attack”
Russian Crimean Governor Sergei Aksyonov confirmed that there had been a “hostile attack” in the region. “The port area has been cordoned off,” he wrote on Telegram. An explosion occurred there and the fire that broke out was brought under control.
Ukraine frequently attacks military targets in Crimea. In April 2022, the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Moskava, was sunk, humiliating Russia.
