Soccer's world champions, the United States, defeated Canada in the SheBelieves Cup final to win the invitational tournament for the fifth time in a row.

The organizers decided the final on Tuesday (April 9, 2024, local time). Columbus/Ohio won the penalty shootout 5:4. After 90 minutes the score was 2:2 (0:1).

Adriana Lyon (40th) put Canada ahead before Sophia Smith (50th/68th) turned the game around for the USA. Four minutes before the end of regular time, Lyon saved his team by converting a penalty from the penalty shootout.

Brazil won on penalties

In the “minor final”, Brazil, with World Cup goalscorer Marta in the starting line-up, beat Japan 3-0 on penalties to finish third, just like last year.

Score 1-1 after regular time. Mina Tanaka (35th) gave the Asian team the lead and a missed penalty (64th) made it 2-0. Christian equalized (71').
