Vlahovic as a can opener: Juventus move to the top of the table

After a weak first half against a committed Lecce, Juventus of Torino appeared to be missing the lead. In the second half, the Old Lady turned things around thanks to Vlahovic.

Lecce's form curve is currently pointing downwards, most recently a 0-1 defeat to Lazio Roma. However, Roberto D'Aversa trusted the same starting lineup and did not make any changes. This plan appeared to be working, at least in the first phase, as the home team took control of the match in the first few minutes. Christovich (5th) and Almqvist (7th) were the first to approach the Turin area.

The old lady needed some time to find her own rhythm. Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri made two substitutions after the 3-0 win over Sassuolo, as Gatti and former Schalke player McKennie replaced Rugani (substitute) and Rabiot (sick). McKennie took the lead immediately after Turin training, but Kristovich cleared it from the goal line (11). Kostick also scored a short time later (13th place).

Proper performance 0-0 at the end of the first half

Juventus entered the match after initial difficulties, but because Lecce did not give up, the opponents were mainly confined to the midfield. As a clear target player, Kristovic had a very difficult time against Juve's three-man series, but Torino's crosses rarely found their target at the other end.

Odin's long-range shot (34th minute) and Mereti's ambitious drives (37th minute, 45+1) were the only moves in the attacking third, but they didn't really make the defensive lines sweat. The corresponding score was 0-0 at the break.

Vlahovic replaces Juventus with two goals

Torino came out of the dressing room more motivated and had a slight upper hand, while Lecce continued to play aggressively. Mereti (49') and Vlahovic (53') made the first signs of the attack until the Serbian finally took the lead: his somewhat treacherously missed shot jumped into the left corner for the cross (59').

The home side now had to adjust their game plan to be more attacking – but Lecce clearly found this difficult against the now confident visitors: The Old Lady took control of the game after taking the lead and quickly improving the score: McKennie nodded Kostic's cross towards goal. From the far corner, Vlahovic blocked the ball over the goal line (69).

Torino is the new league leader

The hosts also had nothing to counter the second goal. Joker Durgu gave Chesney at least one obligatory task on a quiet workday (76th place), but apart from that, Lecce didn't achieve much. Bremer scored with a header for the final point in the 85th minute.

The Old Lady have moved to the top of the table, at least temporarily, but Inter now still have a game in hand.
