The optional Windows Preview Update KB5003214 is clearly causing problems with the Windows Taskbar. The

After installing KB5003214, the icons in the system tray are completely mixed for some users. Symbols or
Appear twice
Or completely blank icons appear. The message center and network icon are no longer functional for some users. Icons disappear for no apparent reason or remain hidden. This appears to occur mainly when the “News and Interesting Topics” feature (sometimes referred to as “News and Weather”) is activated.

Some users also reported other problems. For example, the search entry field in the taskbar has disappeared for some users.
If you uninstall KB5003214 again, these problems will be gone, a user reported according to Windowslatest. If you want to keep updating, you can likely avoid the problems described above by turning off the new News & Hots functions. To do this, right-click on the weather icon and select “Off” from the menu that appears.
