iOS 16 adds support for Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons and Pro consoles

Although not announced on Apple’s website, iOS 16 has been spotted adding support for the Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Cons and Pro Controllers. The job was Featured on Twitter by Riley TestutThe developer behind the video game emulator for iOS delta.

In a series of tweets, Testut said that iOS 16 supports both left and right single Joy-Cons or both at the same time as a single controller. Testut added that it’s possible to dynamically switch between using the Joy-Cons individually or as a single integrated controller by holding down the screenshot capture and home buttons for a few seconds.

Testut also confirmed that iOS 16 supports the Nintendo Switch Professional console, which is a more traditional game console.

Controllers can be customized in the Bluetooth Settings app on iOS 16, which is available in developer beta starting today. Apple said a public beta release of iOS 16 will follow in July, and a software update will be released in the fall.

iPhones have also supported PlayStation 5 DualSense and Xbox Series X controllers since the release of iOS 14.5 in April 2021.
