A fire broke out on the roof of the car in Stena Scandica, but according to the authorities, it is under control.
A fire broke out on a ferry off the Swedish coast with about 300 people on board. A spokesman for the ferry company Stena Line told Swedish Radio: “We have been informed of a small fire and the firefighting is ongoing.” A spokeswoman for the Maritime Rescue Center told the TT news agency that there were no reports of injuries. The fire is under control. There is currently no reason to evacuate the ferry.
“But we have alerted all available units to be on site if an evacuation is necessary,” she added. All available pilot boats and helicopters were sent to the ferry. The ferry is said to be close to the small Swedish island of Gotska Sandun. It is said that the fire broke out in a refrigerated container on the roof of the car. There is smoke but no open flame.
