Wimbledon winner Novak Djokovic (Serbia) made a successful start to the ATP Finals in Turin. The former world number one won his opening match in the red group against Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas 6:4, 7:6 (7:4).
Djokovic got off to a perfect start on Monday night, conceding Tsitsipas in the first match. The world number one said in an interview on the court after the match: “Starting with a break brings a lot of confidence and comfort, because they both knew that it would be a close and difficult match. The first match was essential.”

The top two places in the group advance to the semi-finals. And playing in the green group is the record holder in the four Grand Slams, Rafael Nadal, the American Taylor Fritz, the Norwegian Casper Ruud and Felix Auger-Aliassime from Canada.
In Italy, Nadal and Tsitsipas have the opportunity to replace the injured Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz as world number one at the end of the year.
