The headquarters of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in Naqoura, south Lebanon, was hit by a missile during fighting on the Israeli-Lebanese border today. The UN peacekeeping mission said no one was there and no one was injured. It is not clear who launched the missile.

UNIFIL did not provide any information about the damage to the headquarters. She added that peacekeepers continued to work with actors on both sides to calm the situation. UNIFIL has been in Lebanon since 1978 and is considered one of the oldest active UN observer missions. Among other things, arms smuggling should be prevented.
