The early start of the Ski World Cup in Sölden at the end of October (28/29 October) caused misunderstanding in many places.
As temperatures rose and there was little snow, the stars surrounding Mikaela Shiffrin and Lara Gut-Bahrami did not stay still. “If people in the finish area are walking around wearing T-shirts and those in front of the TV are wearing swimsuits, it doesn’t make sense,” the Swiss woman told Blake recently.
Good news from the race director
Rainer Gastrin, Sölden Race Director, can now address the champions’ concerns via “Oi24” Reply: “We have four or five centimeters of fresh snow at the middle station.” In the latest images from the live webcams, you can see the sugar meadows now. With the temperature falling below zero degrees Celsius, it is now possible to fire snow cannons.
The FIS will also welcome this good news and a snow check will be scheduled for Thursday.
At the same time, training on the racing slope should not be possible. On Monday, ski area managers will conduct a local inspection of the Rettenbach Glacier to determine whether one or more of the secondary ski areas can be used to prepare for the opening races (28/29 October: women’s and men’s RTL race).
