With over sixty concerts throughout the Ruhr region, the Ruhr Piano Festival is one of the largest music organizers in the region. Its director, Franz Xaver Ohnesorg, has announced his retirement. Catherine Zagrosek follows him.

KEtrin Zagrosek will be the new director of the Piano Festival on January 1, 2024 dysentery. This was announced by his administration on Monday. She succeeded Franz Xaver Ohnesorg, who would run the festival for 28 years. Ohnesorg told the Foundation and the Series A supervisory board at an early stage that he did not want to extend his contract, which ran until December 31, 2023, when he was 76 years old. Zagrosek will be appointed to the Board of Directors of the Piano Festival Ruhr Foundation and in the management of the Piano Festival Ruhr sponsorship und Service GmbH from 1 April 2023.

The art and music graduate was initially working as a theater at the Freiburg Theater, director of the “Hamburger Ringtones for Easter” project, production director of “Wien Modern” and artistic director of the Niedersächsische Musiktage. Since 2018, she has run the business of the International Bach Academy in Stuttgart. This year’s Ruhr Piano Festival will run through July 9 and will bring together 69 pianists in 63 events at 24 locations.
