Cooler for Socket SP6: New Noctua models for EPYC and Threadripper processors

Noctua has introduced two newly developed cooler models for AMD TR5 (sTR5/sTRX5/sWRX9) and SP6 sockets, the NH-U14S TR5-SP6 and NH-D9 TR5-SP6. Both are intended for use on Threadripper HEDT (High-end Desktop) and Threadripper Pro 7000 series workstation processors and Epyc 8004 series server processors.

Noctua’s new TR5-SP6 models combine the proven foundation of the existing TR4-SP3 and DX model series with new mounting brackets that meet the increased compression requirements of AMD’s TR5/SP6 socket for optimal Threadripper (7980X, 7970X, 7960X) and Threadripper Pro (7995WX, 7985WX, 7975WX, 7965WX) of the 7000 series CPUs. In addition to the new processors (formerly codenamed “Storm Peak”) and their TRX50 and WRX90 platforms, new 8004 series Epyc processors based on the SP6 socket are also supported ( Such as 8534P, 8434P, 8324P and 8224P).

With six heatpipes, a fin surface area of ​​over 6,000 sq.cm and two optimized 140mm NF-A15 fans, the NH-U14S TR5-SP6 is said to deliver exceptional cooling performance with minimal operating noise. This makes it ideal for building modern, very powerful Threadripper-based workstations that can also run very quietly.

NH-D9 TR5-SP6 is the compact counterpart of NH-U14S TR5-SP6. It is small enough to fit in most 4U cases. It also wants to see itself as a solution for powerful, quiet servers. Both cooler models are delivered with NT-H2 thermal paste pre-applied to speed up the installation process and ensure optimal heat transfer between the processor and the cooler.

The NM-TR5-SP6 installation kit also makes it possible to make TR4-SP4, DX-4677, DX-4189 and DX-3647 series coolers compatible with the new TR5 and SP6 sockets.
