Sunday's action-packed Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix, broadcast live on ABC, recorded the highest viewership in television history. An average of 1.80 million viewers watched the show between 2 pm and 4 pm. Between 3:00 pm and 3:15 pm the viewership reached 1.97 million viewers. Viewership was two percent higher than the previous year, with a record 1.76 million viewers.

This season, three of the last four Formula One races have set viewership records, and all three races televised on ABC set records for the events. The Miami Grand Prix in early May drew 3.1 million viewers, setting an F1 record for live coverage.

The full ABC broadcast of Sunday's race, with the Grand Prix pre-show starting at 12.30pm, averaged 1.3 million viewers. The next race on the Formula 1 calendar is the Formula 1 Aramco Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday 23 June. The race will be televised live on ESPN at 8:55 a.m. ET.
