Gold and Bronze in the Sustainability Competition: Young people from LFS Althofen as future-conscious designers

All technical schools were invited to collect and implement ideas on the theme “Safe food and everyone is fine” and to submit them as a video with a description of the project. The aim was to conduct a critical study of the fields of food and sustainability and highlight the possibility of changing one’s living environment.
LFS Althofen presented two projects. The evaluation criteria were sustainability, creativity, innovation and feasibility. The technical school received awards at the Alpen-Adria 2023 agricultural fair. It is exciting that both projects presented were awarded with awards. “Bread – to the last crumb” emerged as the winner. Bread is the most important food staple and it has been proven that it is being thrown away in large numbers. This is why young people have been involved in carrying out the production of stale dry bread by using it. They are thrilled to be rewarded with a “joyful excursion for body, mind and soul on the Lassen nature estate from the Zeilinger family.”
Students achieved third place in the project “Apple – with Butz and Stengel”. Apples were plentiful in the fall harvest. The jury was impressed with the recycling of all the parts and the preservation of the apples with a short shelf life and was rewarded with a bronze. Students can look forward to a pasta party at the Wakonig family farm grocery store.
LFS Althofen generally attaches great importance to nutrition and increasing awareness during training. Everyone is happy that participation with this content is rewarded in the competition.
