Since Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday this year, there's only today left to make the last few grocery purchases. Some branches are only open during holidays, and some operate with shortened working hours.
Four Bella branches are open on Christmas Eve. Shopping can be done at the branch located at Neuer Markt, Praterstern, Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof and Westbahnhof. The branches will be open until 1:00 pm on December 24. On December 25, all branches were closed, except for the Westbahnhof branch. The same four branches will be opened on December 26.
Almost all Spar branches in Vienna have also been closed. On December 24 and 25, only the branches at AKH and the Floridsdorf clinic will be open, also until 1 p.m. The branch on Babenbergerstrasse in the city center will also open on December 26.
Trading is open until 6pm
Most final gifts can only be given on December 23. Nearly a third of Austrians buy their gifts only in the last few days before Christmas Eve, the trade association reported on Friday. This is why many stores are open until 6pm on Saturday. Flower shops are allowed to stay open until 7.30pm, and sweet shops until 8.30pm. The Christmas tree trade is open until 8pm in many locations.
