Million-dollar project: Strabag is rebuilding Masaryk Train Station in Prague

Austrian construction group Strabag has been awarded a contract worth €137 million. Through its Czech subsidiary Strabag Rail as, Strabag will convert or expand Masaryk train station in the Czech capital Prague. The company announced this in a press release on Thursday. Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2024.

The client is the Czech Railways Administration Správa železnic. The project includes modernizing and expanding the paths, and a pedestrian platform will be built over the paths as an urban link. The work is expected to take about 44 months, or three and a half years, the construction company wrote in a statement.

Masaryk Train Station is one of the oldest train stations in the Czech Republic. It is used by more than 40,000 passengers daily. Not only will the renovation significantly increase its capacity, but the station area will also be better integrated into the surrounding area in terms of urban development, according to Strabag.
