Economics professor Robert Sausgruber (54) was elected new dean by the University of Economics (WU) University Council on Monday. Effective October 1, 2023, he will succeed Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger, who has not run for a new term after two terms in office. Sausgruber was born in Kufstein on November 30, 1968 and studied at the University of Innsbruck. After completing a graduate program at the Institute for Advanced Study (IHS), he has held several guest research positions at the University of Arizona, the University of Amsterdam, the Max Planck Institute Jena, the University of Copenhagen, and the University of Adelaide. , among others and the University of Michigan. In 2005 he habilitated at the University of Innsbruck and later became associate professor at the Institute for Public Economics.
Sausgruber was appointed Professor of Public Economics at WU in 2013, and has also been chair of the economics department there since 2018. His research areas include behavioral economics and experimental economics.
