Open Beta for V1.42, New Texas DLC Images

(MST/Speedmaniacs.de) – While in the past, the open beta testing phase of a new version started first for American Truck Simulator and shortly thereafter also for Euro Truck Simulator 2, this time the upcoming version 1.42 is available directly for both trucks – the simulator is ready.

The focus is on introducing a much needed feature for the Caravan multiplayer mode as well as some minor updates and general fixes.

In the future, mods can also be used in the multiplayer convoy mode. For this, the developers first had to clarify conceptual questions, find solutions for cases where the mod is no longer available or has been changed, and how to deal with the mods missing in the Steam workshop when starting a connection to a server containing mods. As a result, a new user interface has been developed that depicts mod compatibility requirements for the server.

“Previously, we used a red or green icon next to the server session to indicate whether or not you can join the server, depending on whether the session was full, there were card compatibility issues, or even with different game versions. We now have an orange icon introduced An icon indicates that you can’t join the server right now, but the new MOD sync UI lets you download the missing mods and then join.”

Improved force feedback support

If a mod is missing locally but is available in Steam Workshop, it can be downloaded directly via the Steam browser without having to leave the game. If a server mod not available in Steam Workshop is used and offered via a third-party website, players should take care of purchasing the requested expansion themselves. Only when all requirements are met can the server session be joined.

The force feedback profiles for the steering wheels and control units are also updated with V1.42. This means that more devices will be usable with Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator in the future. Since SCS does not have access to all the different consoles available, the community is asked to contact the studio with feedback if there are compatibility issues.

Open Beta can be downloaded via Steam via LIBRARY, right click on American Truck Simulator / Euro Truck Simulator 2, then via “Settings” and “Betas” to “public_beta” and “1.42”.
