Power Express – Mata Amritanandamayi Devi has been appointed as the civilian head of the C20 لمجموعة group

The Indian government has appointed Mata Amritanandamai Devi (AMA) as the chairperson of the Civil Commission 20 (C20), the official G20 engagement group. The Group of Twenty is the main intergovernmental forum for the world’s advanced and emerging economies to ensure financial stability on a global scale. The G20 is a platform for civil society organizations to bring the voices of NGOs and non-businessmen to the leaders of the G20.

India will hold the G20 presidency for a period of one year, from December 1, 2022 to November 30, 2023. The culmination of events is the G20 Heads of State and Government meeting on September 9-10, 2023 in New Delhi. However, in the run-up to the meeting, India will hold more than 200 meetings across the country, an undertaking that will require extensive work from ministerial meetings, working groups and engagement groups.

Assuming her role as Chair of the C20 Engagement Group in India, Amma expressed her gratitude to the Government of India for organizing such a high-level representation of ordinary people’s voices. Members also include Sri M of Satsang Foundation as participant, Sudha Murthy, Head of Infosys Foundation as participant, Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini as Secretary and Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari as founding partner.

At the first online session of the G20, Amma stated: “Famine, conflict, loss of biodiversity and environmental degradation are the most important issues facing the world today. We must sincerely strive to develop solutions. If scientists from all disciplines work – computer science, mathematics, physics, engineers, etc. – Together, we can develop more innovative ways to predict environmental disasters and thus save many lives. Multidisciplinary and integrative efforts are often lacking. This is the need of the hour.”
