Blau-Weiß Linz has taken a big step towards staying in the Bundesliga. The promoted side celebrated a 2-1 victory over Altaç on Tuesday at the Hofmann Personal Stadium thanks to a brace from Ronivaldo (62nd and 88th/pen) and extended the gap with bottom club Austria Lustenau in the qualifying group to eight points. The second-to-last new Altach team also has that lead, as they fell behind due to a poor head-to-head comparison.

Qualifying Group – Round 28

For Linz, it was the first win since the derby at home to LASK 2-0 on November 12, 2023 and after 13 failed attempts. The win was definitely deserved due to the improved performance after the break. In the fourth league duel of the season there was a winner for the first time. Vorarlberger's team, for which only Ouedraogo (second), scored, suffered another defeat after seven matches without defeat. The Altash team continues its matches in the 29th round of the league in Vienna, Austria, on Friday, while the Linz team will visit Wydad Casablanca on Saturday. There are still 12 points available in the last four rounds.

Altach with lightning start

72 seconds were played when Schmid was only able to tip Fadinger's shot forward five feet high and Ouedraogo scored his first Senators goal via an assist. An hour later, the Altachers were fortunate that Demaku did not receive a yellow and red card for repeated foul play after a foul on Noß. There wasn't much to see in terms of gameplay; Fighting and convulsions dominated the events. Altash's record of 2-0 shots on target ensured that there were very few highlights.

At the break, the Linzers switched to a back four and came out of the locker room with much more momentum. Big opportunities were still rare. Ronivaldo passed the ball to Dopras but was unable to finish the match (60). Two minutes later, Mitrovic scored with a header in the middle and Ronivaldo with a header into the net. Schutzenauer excelled in Dupras' shot (74). But the goalkeeper had to get behind him again at the end. Dobras provoked a penalty kick by dribbling in the penalty area due to a foul by Koller, which Ronivaldo converted safely. The new Austrian now has nine goals this season.
