The Thai company is said to be interested in properties in Cigna, according to the report

The central retail group is said to be considering acquiring Signa properties such as KaDeWe and Selfridges.

According to a media report, Thai retailer Central Group is considering acquiring some of Signa's properties. These companies include KaDeWe in Berlin and Selfridges in London, Business Insider reported on Saturday, citing some people from the Thai company.

The Central Group is also interested in the bankrupt KaDeWe group, which, in addition to the luxury store in the capital, also includes Alsterhaus in Hamburg and Oberpollinger in Munich. Thais already own 50.1 percent of the company's shares. The center could not immediately be reached for comment. A spokesman for Signa's restructuring director declined to comment on the report.

Tyrolean investor Rene Benko's Signa Group has largely slid into bankruptcy. Benko's Signa, which is in liquidation, also includes German department store giant Galeria, which has also filed for bankruptcy. KaDeWe and Galeria complained that they had to transfer excess rent to Signa. (APA/Reuters)
