US: Giuliani turns himself in after being indicted in Georgia

Former US President Donald Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, has surrendered to authorities accused of election meddling in the US state of Georgia. The former mayor of New York appeared yesterday at the Fulton County Jail in the Atlanta metropolitan area for identification. He was later released on $150,000 bail.

“These allegations are a farce,” said the 79-year-old former lawyer. “This is not just an attack on me and President Trump. This is an attack on the American people.” The attorney responsible, Fannie Willis, will go down in history for “leading one of the most vicious assaults on the American Constitution of all time.”

Trump also likes to turn himself in

Giuliani is one of 19 defendants in the investigation into Trump’s efforts to sway the outcome of the 2020 Georgia presidential election. Trump’s attorney at the time tried to fight election fraud charges in several states to contest Democrat Joe Biden’s election victory, which was largely denied.

Trump will turn himself in to authorities in Atlanta today. As is customary with accused persons, police photographs of the 77-year-old Republican may also be taken. The former president and 2024 presidential candidate recently wrote on his online site Truth Social that he will be “arrested” on Thursday afternoon. That will be Thursday evening or Friday night after Central European Summer Time.
