The German national team left for the US on Monday afternoon and landed there the same evening. A day later, the first training session took place at the pitch of American club New England Revolution in Foxborough.
Julian Nagelsmann chased his new team loudly for nearly 90 minutes “Sports Film” In different types of sports on the terrain. He tried to teach new processes in quick passing drills and improved the action speed of his experts through demanding drills.
During the training session, which ended around 10pm German time, the focus was not just on the game. In the end, a double surprise awaited the professionals, but the national coach.
DFB team: Ex-NFL professional surprises national players
Former German NFL professional Markus Kuhn, an unexpected guest, appeared on the training pitch and had a few words for the DFB selection. Football players hailed the man who became the first German to score a touchdown in the NFL in 2014.
“It was nice to be able to talk to the boys from the national team. I’m sure they’ll have a good time here,” Kuhn said later, according to “dpa”. The former expert had another surprise. While on the turf, Kuhn was offered jerseys from the New England Patriots, with whom he was once under contract.
First captain İlkay Gündoğan received his copy, followed by his teammates and coach Nagelsmann. “It was great that we got the jersey and that we could immerse ourselves in that world a little bit. It’s a different world,” said Jonas Hoffmann.
The jerseys are all personalized, i.e. with the numbers and names of the respective DFB players. Sporting director Rudy Voller also received the number nine shirt, his number from his professional days.

The DFB team collaborates with the NFL team New England Patriots
Hoffman spoke of “some parallels” between the two games. This is how soccer and football are linked by individual “moves or surroundings”. The national player eventually came to a positive conclusion about the encounter: “It was interesting and happy to make a connection.”
The backdrop for the campaign is a collaboration between the DFB and the New England Patriots. The NFL club, along with MLS team New England Revolution, owns the training complex where the German national team currently trains.
In return, the footballers will use the DFB complex in Frankfurt in Novemberto prepare for their NFL League game against the Indianapolis Colts on November 12 in Frankfurt. As the DFB announced in a statement in July, they want to benefit from cooperation outside the game.
This year too, VfL Wolfsburg and FC Bayern Munich are in a close battle for the championship in the women’s Bundesliga. Despite the gap between the leagues, both teams are leading nationally and internationally. Last season, Wolfsburg won the cup and Bayern won the championship.
