Alex Raines broke his leg in a fall

Alex Raines broke his leg in a fall

(Motorsport-Total.com) – Following the injury-related retirement of works driver Joan Mir (more info), Honda also has to lay off LCR driver Alex Rins. At the MotoGP race in Mugello, the Spaniard fell after three laps and broke his right tibia and fibula.

How long will LCR-Honda have to do without Alex Rins?

Starting ninth on the grid, Raines lost one starting position and finished the first session in tenth place. On lap two Rins dropped to eleventh and on lap three the LCR Honda rider lost another position.

The race ended early for Rins after he crashed on the fourth lap. TV cameras did not catch the fall. Raines was conscious the whole time.

After the fall, the speedway winner was examined at the medical center. Doctors treated the injured leg and prepped Raines for the helicopter ride to Florence Hospital.

Raines’ injury comes at a very inconvenient time as the season continues with the upcoming weekend with the Grands Prix in Germany and the Netherlands. It is very likely that Rins will miss these two events. It is unclear if Honda test driver Stefan Bradl will be involved.

Since winning the US Grand Prix in Austin, Raines has faced a number of setbacks. The Spaniard is currently in tenth place in the championship.

Only two of Honda’s four drivers will ever start in the Mugello Grand Prix. Joan Mir and Alex Raines are both injured. HRC’s hopes rest with factory driver Marc Marquez and LCR driver Takaaki Nakagami.
