Changing banks causes problems for customers

Changing banks causes problems for customers

The Burgenland-Carinthia Bank was officially opened on Monday. It was celebrated with a host of celebrities and politicians. For many of Anadi Bank's 40,000 former customers, the switch of banks did not go smoothly due to the sale of Anadi Bank's ten branches to the Grawe Banking Group.

It was previously said that customers should stock up on cash for the weekend as a precaution before the change. But from Monday everything will work, although the IBAN number changes due to the change of bank. In reality, however, things went a little differently. Some already had difficulties shopping online on Monday. A customer was informed hours after making a purchase via instant transfer via payment service provider Klarna that the payment had not been made.

The Burgenland-Karinthia Bank says that the customer must re-deposit the new IBAN, which is what was mentioned in various messages. On Tuesday, some people had problems paying with their ATM cards. At the cash registers at the ATMs, it said: “Card declined”. In a popular lunch restaurant in the center of Klagenfurt, several guests were unable to pay for their food. Customers who tried to withdraw money from the ATM had their cards confiscated. “There were around 200 cards in total. All customers are contacted and given a small gift,” confirms board member Christian Juck. According to spokeswoman Marlene Grünberger, problems with the external IT service provider were responsible for the difficulties. It is not known how many customers had payment problems in total.

The solution has been found.

During the afternoon a solution was found and the cards were working again. Branch hours have been extended until 8pm to assist customers. Those whose cards were withdrawn from ATMs should have them restored later this week. As for the rest of the affected customers, the card should work again without any problems until it is replaced in the second half of October.
