Australian Jordan Thompson celebrated his first ATP Tour singles title at the age of 29. The semi-final winner of Olympic champion Alexander Zverev (Hamburg) won the final in Los Cabos/Mexico against former world number two Kasper Ruud from Norway 6:3, 7:6 (7:4).

“It's been an amazing week,” said Thompson, who lost 0-6 in his quarter-final win over American Alex Michelsen. “I'm almost 30 years old and I'm lifting the trophy. I never thought I would do that.” The 0 deficit has turned around. In the semi-finals, he defeated world number 40 Zverev in a marathon match that lasted nearly four hours – now the icing on the cake.
“I've spent a lot of hours on the field this week and I want to thank everyone who stayed up last night and all week,” Thompson said.
He has previously reached the ATP Tour final twice in his eleven years as a professional – each time at the grass tournament in Hertogenbosch, Netherlands (2019, 2023).
