Daniil Medvedev swings against Christopher Eubanks – semi-final still booked

At first, in Court No. 1, it looked as if things were going to take their expected course.

Medvedev secured the first set 6: 4 – and then the first break.

In the second and third rounds, Eubanks did not allow the Russian to break the ball and, in turn, broke his opponent’s service game three times.

Suddenly, Medvedev had his back against the wall, adding to it as she entered a fourth-set tiebreaker. The favorite wavered, but saved himself with a score of 7:4.

Then clear conditions prevailed in the fifth set, as Medvedev secured a comfortable 4-0 lead with two runs. a blow from which Eubanks never recovered.

After 2:57 hours, Medvedev reached the semifinals with his first match point. The third place in the world rankings broke his record at Wimbledon, which had a round of 16 entry from the 2021 season.

A late bloomer, Eubanks was only the third All England Club debutant, after John McEnroe (1977) and Argentine David Nalbandian (2002), to qualify directly into the semi-finals.
