San Antonio, April 10 /PRNewswire/ Four generations of vehicles are the building blocks for DeLorean’s new Alpha5

For the first time, DeLorean Motor Company Inc. At the foundation of the Alpha5 EV coupe, which was revealed on May 30. Over the past 40 years, the brand has been constantly evolving behind closed doors. This development has inspired DeLorean to use its latest cars.

The DeLorean DMC-12 became a global icon in 1981. It captured a moment in time and laid the foundation for a legacy of rebellious and iconic design, but it wasn’t meant to be an enduring interpretation of the brand. Although no new car or vehicle itself has been introduced in the past 40 years, the brand has consistently built on its legacy, and now DeLorean offers a glimpse into its reimagined history.

To develop Alpha5, DeLorean used exposed archives and worked with Italdesgin, who designed the DMC-12, to redesign the development of the vehicles decades later. In doing so, the design teams immersed themselves in the style and technology of each decade, using only the tools that were available in each decade.

This redesigned timeline resulted in four generational blueprints.

Unbeknownst to the general public, DeLorean developed its first alpha shortly after the DMC-12. The DMC-24 was a 1981 4-5 seat vehicle. Archived drawings showed a step into the DeLorean future with a move away from stainless steel chassis and an exploration of new materials, but the vehicle was eventually not released.

In 1996, the second DeLorean icon, the Alpha2 Roadster, was born. The Alpha2 marks the first complete departure from the legacy DeLorean design of the DMC-12 and the brand’s evolving design language, fueled by improved technologies.

In 2006 the DeLorean Alpha3, a luxury sedan and the brand’s first interpretation of an electric car, was born. The Alpha3 pushed the boundaries and the brand began to redefine the meaning of the car as a DeLorean.

As the new decade dawned, the appropriation of technology was evident. In 2013, the DeLorean Alpha4, a hydrogen-powered SUV, was developed.

In 2020, the DeLorean Motor Company was formed, a new power transmission company that allowed Classic DMC to focus on servicing and supporting the legendary DMC-12. On May 30, 2022, the first images of the DeLorean Alpha5 EV were presented to the global public.
