Oneworld partners British Airways and American recently cut prices on some connections from Switzerland to the US. It now goes from CHF 337 (~ €345) to Boston and a little more to Chicago, Atlanta, New York or Philadelphia. You can start from Basel, Geneva or Zurich.

Frequent flyers with Sapphire or Emerald status on Oneworld can check up to 23kg per suitcase for free (at least) with reduced fares. This applies to American Airlines (or Iberia / Finnair) flights only. It should also be noted that no flight should have a BA flight number.

Prices vary slightly in Basel, Zurich and Geneva. Here’s an example from Basel:

There are also nonstop flights with American from Zurich to Philadelphia for 369 CHF (~378 €).

Except for the direct connection Zurich – Philadelphia, a change at London-Heathrow is always necessary. British Airways will then operate a feeder flight. For long-haul routes you can usually choose between British Airways and American.

Oneworld frequent flyers should prefer American because status benefits like preferred seat selection also apply in basic economy. Otherwise there is no difference between the two airlines in economy class.
