Every Austrian football fan knows that FC Vaduz has achieved historic success by entering the international group stage. This was achieved against the SK Rapid at the expense of the Eurofighter in red, white and red.
While the Austrian camp does not exceed 3,500 points in the UEFA rankings for five years after the end of the third match in the group stage, our western neighbors are moving away from the top of the European rankings.
Only Spain and England have actually scored more points this season than Liechtenstein, which totals 6,500 points in favor of FC Vaduz. Dwarf Status now holds more points than in the previous four seasons combined.
ÖFB record season in jeopardy
Since Liechtenstein sends only one representative to the race each year, determined by the domestic cup, each point in Vaduz is divided by one. For comparison: to get a point in the UEFA five-year ranking, Salzburg will have to win twice and draw once in the Champions League.
Two additional successes for Liechtenstein in the UEFA Conference League would top the UFB’s best international season to date. It dates back to the previous season and is 10,400 points.
