Scandal in Austria: footballer Bregenz banned for 48 games due to a blow to the head

The referee said the player from Victoria Bregenz saw the yellow card for a hint of his head kick, as the attempt itself was punishable. Since the 28-year-old had already seen yellow before, he had to leave the field.

This does not seem to suit the player, according to “Kronen Zeitung” who is said to have said, “I’ll show you what’s criminal.” He then apparently attacked his opponent and is said to have broken his nose with a head kick.

For this scandal, the Football Association of Vorarlberg announced the maximum penalty with a 48-game suspension.

The Victoria boss also commented on the incident, saying: “Victoria is in favor of the merger, but of course we cannot afford such incidents.” The player has already been expelled from the club.

The Football Association of Vorarlberg also responded and informed the associations surrounding the player’s suspension: “We want to prevent that, as a newly registered player, he can bypass the ban and kick again anywhere.”
