Synod Lackner: “We do with all our heart and commitment”

President of the Austrian Bishops’ Conference: The Synod and the preparation for a Synod of Bishops is the main topic of the next public Episcopal session in June in Mariazell

Salzburg / Vienna (KAP) Full approval and strong support for the process initiated by Pope Francis on the topic of the Synod and of the Synod of World Bishops comes from the Austrian Bishops’ Conference: “We are sincerely involved,” said Archbishop Franz Lackner, the local Archbishop, in an interview with Catcher on Friday. At the same time, the Archbishop of Salzburg announced that the documents on the Synod and the preparation for the Synod of Bishops presented today in the Vatican will be the main topic of the next plenary session of the Bishops Conference. It will take place from 14 to 16 June in Mariazell.

The president of the Bishops’ Conference said that the Pope raises the Synod to the top of the global church agenda “Great. This fits perfectly with Francis. Everyone who knows the Pope knows his ability to get to the heart of the current challenges facing the Church and the world.” Lackner says. “A lot has been released in the church, and disappointments and dissatisfaction are also noticeable. Against this background, I hope that the Pope’s call will activate something that enables us as a Church together and in a contemporary way to live the faith and shape the world in a Christian way.”

The Pope will inaugurate the first decentralized Synod of Bishops in Rome on October 9 and 10. A week later, the diocesan initiation injection will be administered in every diocese around the world. With the help of a questionnaire and guidance, the local bishop will advise and pray there until March 2022. Religious groups, authorities of Korea, Catholic societies, and Catholic groups and colleges should undertake this synod process themselves.
