Tennis Europe Aizkraukle: Niedermayr also convinces internationally – ÖTV

On March 21, Gabriel Niedermayer achieved the double at the ÖTV Youth Indoor U14 Championships in Leibniz. Now, the local young talent has taken the potent form to the international level. The 14-year-old reached the final of the European Tennis Championships for the first time last week at the Vilar International in Aizkraukle. In the U14 category 3 carpet event in the Baltics, he barely missed the premiere title: the Austrian senior had to concede defeat to the Estonian seed Ken Enber 2:6, 6:2, 4:6.

Even then, Niedermayr would cruise through the championship net with astonishing ease and only lost 11 games in four matches, a total of just six matches in the first three rounds. After beating Estonian seed Christo Villerand 6-1, 6-0, he also defeated third seed Lithuanian Eugnius Remeckis 6-2, 6-1 and Briton Samuel Vosel 6-1, 6-1. And Finn defeated the sixth seed Alex Tomolin 6: 3, 6: 2, before the final confrontation only did not bring the desired result. In the doubles competition, Niedermayr and Finn Aatu Niemelä were eliminated in the quarterfinals after winning their match.

At the same time, Timothy Pizar also did well, using the wildcard of the main competition for three victories in the Under-16 Emilio Sanchez Youth Academy Cup in El Prat de Llobregat and losing only in the semifinals against local Spanish champion Roberto Pérez Soukas with 2: 6, 2: 6 pulled.
